Poof! It’s Gone.
Sometimes I feel like life is always throwing me a curve ball. Every time I get comfortable with something, it disappears. Poof! Just like that. Suddenly, without a warning, an explanation or an apology, it’s gone. It’s like the universe is playing a cruel joke on me. But life is full of surprises, isn’t it? Sometimes happy but often sad. Therefore, we laugh, we cry, and we wonder what the heck is going on.
Take My Nails – Please!
Take my nails, for example. I just got them done yesterday, and they are a disaster. They look like a blindfolded monkey did them. They are bumpy, crooked and uneven. I cringe every time I look at them. How did this happen? Well, let me tell you. I used to go to this amazing nail tech who did wonders with my nails. He was talented, passionate and meticulous. Consequently, my nails always looked fabulous. I was extremely happy with his work. Needless to say, I thought I had hit the jackpot, but then he quit. Just like that, out of the blue. Unfortunately, I was left in the lurch, with no one to trust with my nails.
Starting Over
Therefore, I settled for someone else; A nail tech who clearly didn’t care about quality or customer satisfaction. As a result, they ruined my nails and my day. Now I have to start all over again, looking for a new nail tech who has pride in his work. It’s annoying and stressful. As a consequence, I am stuck with these hideous nails and no clue where to find a decent nail tech in this town. It clearly sucks! I don’t know why this keeps happening to me. I just want to have nice things. Why is happiness so elusive?
Happiness Is an Inside Job
The truth is that happiness doesn’t come from nice nails, or perfect hair. Happiness comes from within. If you are always looking for happiness outside of yourself, you will always be disappointed. So, smile and count your blessings, enjoy the fact that you can afford to pamper yourself, live in a comfortable home and drive a reliable car that gets you where you want to go. Some people don’t have that luxury.
